Never have so many players fought each other in an FPS, in one battlefield, in the browser. And never has so much time been spent on a game that is meant to be played only once.
On the 29th of January 2012, history was written as 999 players met and made loving warfare on one single battlefield. The level of participation exceeded our wildest expectations, and sadly, because there were “only” 1000 player slots in the game, we had to turn down a lot of players who wanted to join. We would like to send a big hug to everyone who played, tried to play or showed interest in this event. Without you this would not have been possible.
The game was first announced, in Spring 2011, by the name “Tanks vs Robots”. Since then our CEO caved in, for the pressure of the team, to not only deliver a unique online experience by having a thousand players fighting in the browser but also make a compelling back story, have great graphics and fancy animations and effects. The tech demo Tanks vs. Robots was turned into the prettified Man vs. Machine demonstrating the full capability of what you can do with Unity and MuchDifferent’s technology.
